A boil water advisory is in effect for portions of the village of Herkimer after two water main breaks over the weekend.

Acting Village Clerk/Treasurer Amanda Viscomi said the first break happened sometime during the overnight into Sunday on Reservoir Road. A second break happened around 5 p.m. Sunday in Manion Heights.

Areas under the boil water advisory include Herkimer College, Manion Heights and upper Westwood Drive.

Water and Sewer Superintendent Scott Blais was unavailable for comment Monday.
