Boil Water Advisory In Effect In Holly
HOLLY, Mich. (WWJ) — A "Boil Water Advisory" has been issued for the Village of Holly in northern Oakland County after issues with a water main.
Authorities say the advisory was sent out as a precaution for any customers using the village’s water system — including those outside the village limits that are attached to the system.
More than 6,000 people are affected by the advisory, according to village officials.
The advisory was spurred by a broken valve that needs replacement on a water main along the North Saginaw Street corridor.
Authorities say the alert, sent out Monday afternoon, will last for at least 48 hours.
During an advisory, water should be boiled before drinking, preparing food, and hygienic activities.
Boiling the water helps to kill any potentially harmful bacteria, viruses and parasites.
Freezing will not disinfect the water.
