Boil water advisory issued for 5 Wing Goose Bay air base in Labrador
HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY, N.L.
— A boil water advisory has been issued for the 5 Wing Goose Bay air base in Labrador.
Officials say there is an increased level of turbidity — or cloudiness — in the water at the Royal Canadian Air Force base.
They say the turbidity is due to high surface water flows into the Spring Gulch supply from the surrounding sandy soil.
They say people should use boiled water for teeth brushing, drinking, ice cubes, preparing food and washing produce.
They’re warning people to be careful washing their hands and avoid swallowing the water in the bath and shower.
In particular, they say children and people with compromised immune systems should not to ingest the water and should be sponge bathed.
