Boil water advisory issued in Kalamazoo’s Kendall Avenue area

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A precautionary boil water advisory was issued as water line repairs got underway Tuesday on Kendall Avenue.
The city said the repairs are necessary and will result in a temporary loss of water pressure.
Because of that water pressure issue, the precautionary boil water advisory was issued.
The city also said there are no confirmed signs of bacteria in the water supply.
However, additional testing will be completed, and the city expects to lift the advisory by Friday.
The advisory was issued in cooperation with the Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department for all water intended for drinking or ingestion in the following areas: • Kendall Avenue – Between Santos Avenue (northern boundary) and Howard Street (southern boundary), both sides of street; • Santos Avenue – Between Solon Street (western boundary) and Kendall Avenue (Eastern boundary), both sides of street; • Cherry Hill Street – From Santos Avenue (northern boundary) to south end of street.
The area includes the Santos Hill Townhomes; Kendall Ridge North Townhomes; Hillside Village; Kendall Ridge; Kendall Manor Apartments; Mansard House Apartments; Kendall Village Townhomes; White Hall Apartments; and the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church.
This advisory is precautionary only.
Municipal water customers in the affected area may use bottled water for consumption or boil tap water for 2 minutes prior to use for drinking or other ingestion.
No special precautionary measures are necessary for water used for personal hygiene.
