Boil water advisory remains for 230 on Spartanburg Water

Spartanburg Water crews have finished repairs to restore service to customers affected by a water main break Tuesday, but a boil water advisory remains in effect.
Utility officials confirmed the work had been completed a little before 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
Crews were called to a site near Southport Road where a 12-inch line break was found in a water main.
The advisory effects about 230 customers in the area of Southport Road from South Avenue to Matthew Perry Road, Canaan Church Road, Sequoia Drive, Pinton Drive, Summerland Drive, Bayberry Drive, Old Canaan Road, South Meadow Drive, Canaan Road, Seay Lane, Loop Road, Bullington Road, Carolina Country Club Road, Lakeland Drive, Michael Drive and Seabrook Drive.
The boil water advisory remains in effect so crews can follow regulatory requirements and perform mandatory water quality testing now that work has wrapped up, said Chad Lawson, Spartanburg Water spokesman.
Lawson said there’s no known contamination in the water, but quality testing is required after a water main break and repair.
