Relief in sight as heaviest rainfall heading northwards but all eyes still watching Herbert River

Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Jim Richardson said showers would continue in the region, but they would be far less intense than this week’s downpours.
“At the moment it looks like the heavier rain has gone north and moved away from the floods.” Signs of the rain around #Cairns beginning to ease as the focus of rainfall shifts to the north and west.
“Cairns had about 159mm overnight, and the majority of the rain was along the ranges from Innisfail right up to Cairns,” he said.
“Since March 7, when the weather really kicked off, we’ve had 128 completed activations, and nine activations where we assisted other agencies like the police.” EARLIER: WIDESPREAD heavy rainfall is expected to move further north towards Cooktown, Lockhart River and the East Cape York area over the weekend, offering some relief to the Cairns region.
BOM Queensland State Manager Bruce Gunn said while the heavy rainfall around Ingham, Tully, Innisfail and Cairns was easing, the main focus remained on the Herbert River where the flood peak at Ingham was expected to reach around 2009 levels yesterday afternoon.
Boil alert for parts of Youngstown and Austintown
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown Water Department has issued a boil advisory for portions of Youngstown’s west side and Austintown’s east side until further notice.
Officials say a power outage disrupted a major supply line late Friday, resulting in low water pressure for homes and businesses in neighborhoods east and west of Meridian Road.
The department is recommending that all Youngstown Water customers in the affected area boil their water that is used for drinking and cooking.
A roiling boil for one minute is adequate.
All residents contained within the boundary East of Raccoon Rd, North of New Rd and West of Belle Vista Ave. See below map for further detail.
The water department says customers will be notified that the alert has been lifted when the water has been tested and considered safe.
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency is now requiring that all cities follow this procedure for all depressurization of drinking water lines.

Boil Alert: Areas of Youngstown and Austintown included
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Youngstown water department has issued a water boil alert for people on the west side of Youngstown and the east side of Austintown.
You are included in this alert if you live in the blue area on this map.
That’s anyone east of Raccoon Road, north of New Road and West of Belle Vista Avenue.
You need to boil your water for at least one minute before drinking it or cooking with it.
The Youngstown Water Department lost power, yesterday and that lead to a loss of pressure in one of their major water lines.
The water is being tested throughout the day.

Boil alert issued for Youngstown’s West Side
YOUNGSTOWN — Late Friday night, the Youngstown Water Department experienced a water depressurization event due to a disruption of a major distribution waterline.
The failure affected customers on the West Side of Youngstown and east side of Austintown.
Due to the low water pressure that resulted from the disruption, the Youngstown Water Department is recommending all water customers in the affected area east of Raccoon Road, north of New Road and west of Belle Vista Avenue boil their water that is used for drinking and cooking.
A roiling boil for one minute is adequate, Dan Blakely, engineering assistant for the city, wrote in an email to the media.
Boil advisory lifted in Iowa
A boil advisory in the Town of Iowa has been lifted.
A CenturyLink crew working in Iowa bored a hole through an 8-inch water main at the corner of S. Knapp Avenue and W. Second Street Monday.
The water main was repaired that day, but some in the town remained under a boil advisory.
Mayor Carol Ponthieux said Thursday that tests have shown that the water is now safe to drink.

Evansville precautionary boil advisory lifted

The areas affected are: All areas south from N.W.
corner at S. Cullen and Lincoln Avenue, going east following the area south of Newburgh Road to I69 and Covert Avenue.
Follow Cullen Avenue south around the perimeter of Park Lawn Cemetery to Covert Avenue.
All areas south of Covert Avenue, starting at Seasons Ridge Blvd.
south to Pollack Avenue going east along I69 back to Covert Avenue.
The only area outside I69 is the Waterford Pointe Mobile Home Park, Sand Cherry Lane and Chickasaw Drive.

Repairs to broken water main to be finished on Friday; boil water advisory remains in effect
A four foot wide underground pipe broke near Buford Highway in Doraville, spilling about 100 million gallons of water and causing disruptions for most of DeKalb County.
Boil and conserve water notice until Saturday Residents in the affected area are being asked to boil water for at least one minute after water comes to a rolling boil prior to drinking, cooking or preparing baby food.
DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond released this statement regarding the boil water advisory in effect for residents in the county: "A large diameter water main break is causing water pressure in parts of the water system to drop to dangerously low levels.
DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management, in an abundance of caution, is issuing a Boil Water Advisory for the entire system.
In order to protect the public from a potential health hazard, all customers that have experienced water outages and/or low water pressures are advised to “boil” all water prior to use for drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food.
Customers should continue to boil their water until they are notified that the water system has been restored to full operation, and that the microbiological quality of the water in the distribution system is safe for human consumption."
CBS46’s Rebekka Schramm talked with a public information representative from DeKalb Medical Center and they say because of low water pressure, they’re cancelling all elective surgeries on Wednesday.
The hospital is still equipped to do emergency surgeries.
