Oakdale turning off water for the night, other municipalities urging residents to conserve water
A boil advisory has been issued once the water is back on.
Kinder will shut off water from 10 p.m. Wednesday until 4 a.m. to refill water tanks.
A boil advisory has been issued for Kinder and customers of the Southwest Allen Parish Water District south of La.
Kinder is asking residents to stop running or dripping faucets while temperatures are above freezing.
Sulphur is also urging residents to conserve water during the next several days as temperatures continue to dip below freezing.
Water conservation is critical for systems to rebuild and maintain pressure in order to avoid a boil advisory, Mayor Chris Duncan said.
Faucets need only to run a steady drip to avoid freezing.
When temperatures are above freezing, all running faucets should be turned off.

Three water main breaks reported in Greer; Boil water advisory issued
Breaks on Suber Road and Brushy Creek Road were repaired Tuesday, while a water main break on Pelham Street was worked on throughout Wednesday, according to the Greer Commission of Public Works.
Crews worked since Tuesday night to shut water off at the Pelham Street site, said Alison Rauch, a Greer CPW spokeswoman.
“It’s still in progress.
… They’ve been out working on this pretty much all night,” she said Wednesday.
As a result, residents in the surrounding area should expect to have no or low water pressure.
A boil water advisory is in effect while crews work on the water main.
The advisory will remain in effect until further notice in order to allow crews time to repair the break and submit water samples for testing, Rauch said.
Residents should boil their water for at least minute before using it.
“It’s just this time of year when the ground temperature changes and our pipes expand and contract,” Rauch said.
“With the temperatures being like they are for the next few days, we’re going to see more of these.”

UPDATE: Crews repairing large water main breaks in Ashland; traffic to be rerouted around one
ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) — UPDATE 1/2/18 @ 6:50 p.m. As temperatures continue to drop, many neighbors in Ashland are becoming more concerned with city water lines breaking than they are with pipes in their homes freezing.
Traffic around the 13th Street break will be altered starting Wednesday morning as crews continue to fix the break.
This is expected to last at least 24 hours, or until the line is repaired.
Cunningham says she expects breaks when temperatures get so low, which is why she keeps back-up water.
City crews say they expect it, too, and will see it again when temperatures go back up, just like in August 2017 when a major break cut off water to thousands.
More issues were reported Tuesday night, including a water main break on 29th Street between Nolte Street and Robin Lynn Drive.
The repair is expected to be completed by mid-morning Wednesday.
King says there are plans to have consulting firm BlueWater Group come in to do a study on the city’s infrastructure and find key areas that need to have lines replaced.
