NMED Confirms ‘Boil Water Advisory’ Issued By Mora Inn And RV Park Water System
SANTA FE ― The New Mexico Environment Department’s (NMED) Drinking Water Bureau (DWB) is confirming a required "boil water advisory" for the Mora Inn and RV Park Water System in Mora County.
Mora Inn and RV Park Water System was required to issue the advisory Monday after bacteriological contamination (E. coli) was detected in repeat drinking water samples from the water system’s distribution system. Mora Inn and RV Park Water System is required to notify their water system users of this finding.
Mora Inn and RV Park Water System is a non-transient non-community public water system located approximately five miles northwest of Mora in Mora County and serves approximately 75 users per day.
This advisory applies to the drinking water from the Mora Inn and RV Park Water System, and does not extend to any other surrounding water systems.
Mora Inn and RV Park Water System users were advised to boil the water for one minute (3 minutes if above 6,500 feet in elevation) before drinking, cooking, washing fruits and vegetables, feeding a baby, brushing teeth, preparing drinks, making ice, and providing drinking water for pets.
Boil water advisory still on in Elkton
He told council the DPW detected total coliform bacteria in the village’s water system and have begun a chlorine treatment to alleviate the issue.
Schulz said the boil water advisory was a move to "be on the safe side" and to comply with a state mandate when bacteria is detected. Officials were initially hesitant to use chlorine, because although it will take care of the problem, it also usually knocks a lot of rust loose in the system.
"For anyone else, you’d have to drink the equivalent of a small swimming pool before it would affect you," he said.
When asked by council on a timetable, he was not certain, although he is hopeful they can begin sampling again as soon as Thursday. He added they must have two quality samples taken both upstream and downstream before they can lift the advisory.
Also at the meeting, council tentatively set a special meeting for Tuesday or Wednesday of next week for the general public to attend regarding the village’s solar contract with Cypress Creek Renewables.
"My biggest thing is we need to make sure that we let the public be aware and give them an opportunity to come in," said board member Agnes Kosinski.
The village received a $2,000 grant from the MSU Extension Office for its First Impressions program, which helps communities learn about their strengths and weaknesses through the eyes of first-time visitors. The event is free.
Water main breaks near Sudden Valley, boil water advisory issued | The Bellingham Herald
A spill caused by a water main break near Sudden Valley has created a potential health risk to residents who draw their drinking water directly from Lake Whatcom without treatment, according to a news release from the Lake Whatcom Water and Sewer District.
Those who get their water from Lake Whatcom Water and Sewer District or the City of Bellingham do not need to boil their water.
Crews reported that wastewater was seeping out of the ground between the pump station and a ditch at a rate of 20 gallons per minute, according to the news release.
A day later on Friday afternoon a resident called the district to report wastewater entering the roadside ditch at the same location. Crews stopped the spill by 5 p.m. Water was redirected to flow to another sewer force main and the ditch was again disinfected.
Some 45,000 gallons of water spilled into the ditch at a high flow rate because the pipe was pressurized.
Residents who were affected were notified on Thursday and Friday.
Sections of pipe are fused together with what are called butt joints, Sorensen said.
Sorensen said the pipeline was installed in 2002.
About 100 Jerome homes under boil advisory
JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Crews working to connect a new water main Wednesday afternoon left about 100 homes temporarily without water in southeastern Jerome.
Rick Wuori, city engineer and interim public works director, said they expect water to be restored sometime Wednesday evening. City officials issued a boil advisory for those effected residents. The city plans to have water samples collected and tested for possible contaminants.
The city expects test results on Friday.
Wuori said construction crews have been working to install a new water main along East Avenue I and turned water off in the early afternoon to make the final connections.
“Anytime you depressurized the system you have the potential for something to get in,” he said.
The area impacted includes homes on South Buchanan Street between East Avenue H and East Avenue I.
BOIL WATER ADVISORY ISSUED FOR THORNHILL
The notice was issued yesterday by the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine, after laboratory tests indicated the presence of total coliform bacteria in the drinking water.
The RD says this MAY indicate the disease-causing microorganisms could be present.
These organisms include bacteria, viruses and parasites that can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, vomiting or other symptoms.
Boiling water and then allowing it to cool can kill these bacteria.
The advisory covers the water supply in Lower Thornhill, Upper Thornhill, Queensway and Copper Mountain.
Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth and food preparation until further notice.
The Regional District has updated the earlier Water Quality Advisory to a Boil Water Notice – Total Coliform Presence, and expanded on the location description to include Queensway and the Coppermountain Subdivision. The updated notice, as posted on our website, is below.
Megan Glover, Receptionist
In order to ensure safety of the water, all water must be boiled rapidly for at least one minute and then cooled prior to being used for drinking, brushing teeth, washing food.

Three weeks after Hurricane Maria, most of Puerto Rico still without power
Puerto Rico (MNN) — It’s been exactly three weeks since Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico.
The representative connected Haedo with Christian Aid Mission and a partnership was formed to spur the hurricane relief efforts.
Together, both by boat and by plane, Haedo and Christian Aid Mission have made it possible for generators, water filtration systems, solar-powered chargers, and over $50,000 worth of critical medicine to be delivered to hurricane victims in Puerto Rico.
Haedo says, “I called my local church in Puerto Rico and they have all banded together and the first thing locally was can we develop a census of highest-need people in the family of Christ?
Haedo explains, “That’s the only way we want to do it because we can be more effective by getting to the highest need people in the community.
Ricardo Rosselló said it may take until the end of this month for even 25 percent of the power grid to be back online.
In addition, Haedo says, “I really don’t want people to forget St Thomas with about 50,000 people, St Croix with about 40,000 people, and St John with about 10,000 people also got hammered….
Area under boil advisory after crews strike water mains
GRATIS — A boil advisory has been issued for the Village of Gratis.
The boil advisory was issued Wednesday morning after a construction crew working to replace a water line struck two water mains, village officials said.
Dayton police are hoping newly released surveillance video might help capture two people who damaged several statues last week at the Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
“Right now we need help from the community just to try to identify these folks, so that we can latch onto them, get them in here , and interview them to see why this transpired,” Dayton police Sgt.
Police have taken reports of vehicle thefts in the neighborhood, but Beavers said none of the crimes were as serious as the damage to the church.
This is not the first time the shrine has been vandalized,” said the Rev.
The statues have been vandalized several other times in the past, including in October 2010, when a juvenile hanging on the statue was said to have broken off the arms and hands of the Virgin Mary statue.
Late Wednesday morning, students from the Immaculate Conception school gathered around the damage and prayed along with Joseph.
Causeway restaurants ready to open after boil advisory lifted
This system brought strong winds and heavy rain and the storm surge flooded areas across the Gulf Coast, including on the Causeway.
"As soon as we get the go ahead from the Health Department, we are going to open right up," said Leslie Sisson, Ralph & Kacoo’s Manager.
Nate was Sisson’s first hurricane.
"It was quite the experience. About 7 o’clock Saturday night and a lot of wind and rain.
Cooper Restaurants has two restaurants on the Causeway — Blue Gill and Felix’s.
"Sometimes when Mother Nature flexes her muscles we have to do a little clean-up and that’s what we do – we are just happy to be here."
"A lot of minor repairs that have to be done," said Neal Hollingshead, ED’s Seafood Shed General Manager.
The Alabama Department of Public Health lifted the boil advisory just before 7 p.m. Monday.
All restaurants tell us they will be open on Tuesday.
Boil water alerts lifted for all Melbourne water customers
This includes residents on the nine streets in the North Waterway Estates Subdivision who were still being advised to boil until Monday afternoon.
A bacteriological survey conducted by city officials showed the water is now safe for consumption.
City leaders issued the boil water alert Thursday after a 6-inch valve broke on the 36-inch water main at the John A. Buckley Surface Water Treatment Plant near Lake Washington.
Melbourne supplies drinking water for Indialantic, Indian Harbour Beach, Melbourne, Melbourne Beach, Melbourne Village, Palm Shores, Satellite Beach, West Melbourne and unincorporated Brevard County customers south of the Pineda Causeway.
The boil water alert was lifted at 7 p.m. Sunday for all customers except those who live on nine streets in North Waterway Estates, a subdivision in South Patrick Shores just south of the Pineda Causeway.
In an earlier move, West Melbourne officials lifted their boil water alert for households and businesses on the city’s distribution system shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday.
The affected streets: Thrush Drive, Sparrow Drive, Eagle Drive, Finch Drive, Ibis Lane, Meadowlark Lane, Dove Lane, Blue Jay Lane and Skylark Boulevard.
Last month, Hurricane Irma crippled Cocoa’s water distribution system by damaging a water main along the Merritt Island relief bridge on State Road 520.
In September 2016, a lightning strike at the water treatment plant triggered Melbourne’s first system-wide boil water alert since hurricanes Frances and Jeanne struck in September 2004.
