WAPA Issues Boil Water Advisory For Estate White Lady In Frederiksted
The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority has issued a boil water advisory for the Estate White Lady area of St. Croix after lab tests of water samples confirmed the presence of E. Coli bacteria on October 4, 2017.
S Virgin Islands Department of Health. In the affected area, boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and preparing food until further notice.
The presence of Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria indicates that the water may be contaminated with human or animal wastes. Harmful microbes in these wastes, including E. coli, can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms. But these symptoms are not just caused by harmful microbes in drinking water. If you experience any of these symptoms and they persist, you should seek medical advice.
WAPA is seeking to remedy this situation by increasing the disinfectant (chlorine residual) in the areas affected and increase water pressure throughout the distribution system.
Legislators speak out after McCormick prisoners scale dorm roof
He said one inmate was injured Wednesday night when “a handful” of inmates climbed on top of a prison dorm. The inmate was treated onsite for injuries that weren’t life threatening.
Of those, 69 are vacant — leaving the prison with a nearly 40 percent vacancy rate in security staff, Taillon said.
The report shows McCormick Correctional has the lowest number of filled positions, and the second-lowest number of total inmates among the state’s maximum-security prisons.
McCormick Correctional has 10.3 inmates per security staff member — more than three prisoners per security staff than Lee Correctional Institution, according to the report.
Wednesday’s events came days after a water main break Saturday left the prison under a boil water advisory.
On social media, rumors spread of prisoners having limited access to water, but a SCDC official said staff boiled water before use and served prisoners milk and juice.
Last year, a McCormick Correctional inmate managed to escape the facility and make it to a Columbia Walmart, where he stabbed a police officer before being arrested at a Lexington school.
Michael Lorenzo Jones, 43, died Sept. 25, 2016 while incarcerated at the prison and Reico Lamont Welch, 40, was killed in a fight with another inmate Nov. 18, 2016, according to an SCDC official.
At the start of this year, on Jan. 8, an inmate got out of their living quarters, likely in an attempt to get contraband that had come over the fence around the prison, officials said.
Boil Water Advisory Issued For Some Residents In Lower Providence Township
NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) –Pennsylvania American Water has issued a boil water advisory on Thursday night for customers in portions of Lower Providence Township.
The advisory was issued following the loss of water pressure in one of its storage tanks today. Approximately 750 customers are affected.

As a result, there is an increased chance that the water might contain disease-causing organisms,” officials said in a news release.
These organisms include bacteria, viruses and parasites, which can cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea and associated headaches.
Residents are urged to bring all water to a rolling boil, let it boil for one minute, and cool before using, or use bottled water. You should use boil or bottled water for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and food preparation until further notice.

Bayview Nursing Rehab Nursing Home in Bradenton was initially unaware of the problem as well but luckily they had the means to make it through.

Boil water alert issued for Melbourne customers
A main break left Melbourne city water customers without service Thursday afternoon, with the city issuing a boil water advisory for all residents.
"We urge all customers to conserve water and use as little as possible until the water main can be repaired. We do not currently have an estimated time for when this will be," a release from Melbourne spokeswoman Cheryl Mall read.
Although service was restored, crews were still working to repair the break and determine its cause Thursday evening.
Because water pressure briefly dropped below the required 20 psi, all Melbourne water customers — from Palm Shores to West Melbourne, including beachside communities Satellite Beach, Indian Harbour Beach, Indialantic and Melbourne Beach — were advised to boil water until the results of a bacteriological survey can clear the problem.
The city supplies drinking water for its population of about 77,000 and also for customers in surrounding cities, such as West Melbourne and several beachside communities, and unincorporated areas of Brevard County near the city.
