Aqua water outages in North Raleigh, Wake Forest expected to last days
The outages were reported in the Stonehenge neighborhood in Raleigh’s 27615 ZIP code and the Crescent Ridge neighborhood in the 27587 ZIP code in Wake Forest.
The total number of affected customers is unclear at this time. A spokesman for Aqua said he would comment on the outages as soon as possible Wednesday morning.
“This advisory does not mean that the water is contaminated,” the notice said. “It is simply a precautionary measure. After Aqua makes repairs, we will collect a special water sample and send it to a drinking water laboratory for tests.
Unlike the Stonehenge report, the Crescent Ridge notice mentions a lack of water – not the need to make any repairs.
“Due to the combined absence of regular rainfall, heat, and high irrigation in Crescent Ridge, the water available in your community wells is being overdrawn and unable to meet the demand at current usage levels,” the advisory said.

Roma residents told to boil water
Residents of the Queensland town of Roma are being urged to boil water after E. coli was detected in a supply reservoir.
Residents of Roma have been exposed to water contaminated with E.coli after an electrical fault caused a disused bore to pump unchlorinated water into the town’s reservoir.
Maranoa Regional Council issued a warning on Wednesday urging residents, mainly in the western part of town, to boil tap water to avoid ingesting the bacteria.
The source of the contamination had been found, Maranoa Mayor Tyson Golder said.
"This bore has now been physically disabled and the reservoir has been manually dosed with chlorine to restore disinfection," he said.
"Council will continue to work with Queensland Health over the coming days to undertake further testing of the water, to confirm the contamination has been removed."
Water should be boiled and cooled before drinking, brushing teeth, preparing food and bathing infants.
"Consuming unboiled drinking water could lead to illness, especially for … those who are very young, elderly or immune compromised," the council said in a statement.
Updates are expected on Thursday morning and people can check if their property has been affected on a map available on the Maranoa council website.

Water advisory lifted
The Water Security Agency (WSA) conducted a lab test reporting their results to the city on Monday.
The PDWA was invoked on Friday evening, following a watermain break on 12th Avenue Southwest between Coteau Street and Lillooet Street near the South Hill reservoir.
The break was significant enough that south and west portions of South Hill may have been affected.
The PDWA was inconvenient for resident Riley Legare and her pets as she had to make adjustments.
“You can’t do anything without boiling the water.
She had to resort to spending extra money on bottled water just in case.
“I’m giving them bottled water now which is expensive but I’m not going to sit here and (give them) bottle water all day,” Legare said before the advisory was lifted.
For laundry and dishes, he said it wasn’t a problem at all as he always uses hot water.

Endicott boil water advisory in effect until at least Wednesday
.
ENDICOTT (WBNG) — A spokesperson with the Village of Endicott Water Department told 12 News the advisory should be in place until at least Wednesday.
The advisory was put in effect Sunday following a water main break on South Street in the village of Endicott. The village water department says the break was fixed on Sunday.
According to a post on the Village of Endicott Facebook page, a water main break on South Street caused those in affected areas to lose pressure.
The village says work is being done to repair the main and will issue another alert when the water is safe to drink.
Boiling kills most bacteria and organisms in the water.
Harmful bacteria in drinking water is known to cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea and other symptoms. Anyone who experiences these symptoms are advised to seek medical help immediately.
UPDATE: Boil Water Advisory Will Continue Into Next Week
A boil water advisory will remain in effect into next week for the Village of Endicott, West Corners, and all of Endwell, due to a water main break near 600 South Street in Endicott around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday.
As a result of the break, the mains lost pressure which increases the chance that untreated water and harmful microbes could enter the system.
The Village of Endicott Water Department spent the entire day repairing the break. Water was turned back on around 5:00 p.m. South Street in Endicott remained closed for the day but will reopen late Sunday evening.
I know they’ll fix it.
I was just trying to do dishes and trying to boil it. How do you get all the soap off with just a little bit of boiled water? But you live with it.
The Village of Endicott Water Department advises that anyone in the affected area to avoid drinking the water without boiling it first until further notice.
Three Reasons Why You Need To Boil Water After A Storm
.
And all those visible waterways are, in turn, connected to the water underground.
“Unfortunately, what we see during major storm events is that the aquifer and the water level starts to rise, which causes flooding,” said Cox.
So, if power goes out and the plant can’t properly treat the water, a precautionary boil alert will be issued. In fact, all of its water treatment plants stayed powered up throughout the storm and its aftermath.
“We do have pipes that are still in service that are in excess of 80 years old,” said Messemer-Skold.
“Anything that has moving parts, and the fact that these pipes are pressurized in order to deliver the water from the plants to homes and business, ya know, things do break,” said Messemer-Skold.
Crucially, the pressure not only moves the water through the pipes, but it also pushes potential contaminants away and keeps them from penetrating the pipes and dirtying the water.
