Hurricane Irma: Broward boil water orders increase.
Pembroke Pines workers were sent to try to repair the generator.
6 p.m.; Boil water orders: Boil water orders have been issued for all of Davie and Hollywood and a portion of Hallandale Beach, officials said.
The south county boil water orders also extend to some of the customers of the county’s water and wastewater services in areas of Pembroke Pines, Miramar, West Park and Dania Beach.
In total, Broward is reporting it has 13,070 people in its 21 shelters.
7:40 a.m.; Ready to rescue pets: Broward County Animal Care and Adoption has teamed up with the Humane Society of the United States, its Broward affiliate and South Florida Wildlife to relocate 24 dogs and 109 cats from the Broward shelter to rescue groups across the country.
The animals were flown by charter plane Friday to six shelters in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana to free up space in the shelter so it can receive pets separated from their owners after Hurricane Irma passes through.
Officials expect the winds would be at an acceptable level by 10 a.m. Monday, based on information from the National Weather Service.
While Palm Beach County imposed its own curfew, Miami-Dade County did not.
A number of cities, including Coral Springs, have their own curfews that are separate from the county curfew.
Sutherland advised to boil tap water
Sutherland residents should boil their water until further notice to remove any potential contamination, after lightning shut the water pumps down around 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
The lightning tripped an electrical breaker, shutting off the village pumps was well as the automatic alarm that notifies authorities when the pumps go off, village maintenance superintendent Jason Lashley said.
Lashley the water tower continued to supply homes and businesses for many hours and no one realized the problem Saturday.
Whenever a water system is shut off and then restarted, harmful bacteria can possibly be dislodged from the system’s pipes and endlines, and the bacteria could mix into tap water.
On Sunday morning, Lashley also turned on all the village’s fire hydrants to flush the lines, another precaution, with help from the Sutherland Volunteer Fire Department.
He also prepared to chlorinate the water.
Water samples will be taken Monday to be tested at a state certified laboratory, to make sure no harmful bacteria is present.
Lashley said it could be Thursday or later before the boil water advisory for Sutherland is lifted.

The city’s water treatment plant experienced a significant drop in pressure, below 20 psi.
Broward County then issued an advisory for parts of Miramar.
Residents affected are on the south from SW 25th Street and on the north by Pembroke Road, on the east by SR7 and on the west by Florida’s Turnpike.
That may be difficult to impossible to do for residents who don’t have power, gas, or a propane grill or stove.
For those who can, boil your tap water for one minute.
Only boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation.
As soon as conditions will allow, crews will work to isolate the damaged line and begin the repairs.

Boil Water Advisory remains for Central Park water
Boil Water Advisory remains for Central Park water.
Grays Harbor County Water District #2 issued a release on Labor Day for all residents in Central Park who they served about system wide water outage.
The problem was fixed, and water service was restored to many, but issues remain.
According to the district, “With the decrease in water pressure the possibility of water contamination exists.” Fuses at their pump station overheated, according to General Manager Reg Hearn.
While the fuses have been replaced, pressure takes time to build.
Residents on Reynvaan are seeing slower return, as their sub station requires adequate pressure before being turned back on.
Hearn says that crews are checking the pressure, and service should return shortly.
Testing is being done on the water, but they say that the results of any of the tests will not be available “for several days”.
Until further notice, the Water District advises residents that water used for drinking, cooking and dish washing be boiled.
If residents have questions, they can call the office at 360-532-1828 during normal business hours or email the general manager at regghcwd2@hotmail.com.
PWSA Lifts Flush And Boil Advisory In Millvale
PWSA Lifts Flush And Boil Advisory In Millvale.
Residents of Millvale are no longer under a flush and boil water advisory.
“The residents and officials in Millvale have been extremely patient and helpful as we worked through this boil water advisory, and we are grateful for their cooperation.
Our main goal at PWSA is, and will always be, providing safe drinking water to our customers,” said PWSA interim executive director Robert Weimar in a press release.
Early last week, PWSA ordered the advisory for nearly 18,000 customers in the northern part of the city, as well as Millvale and Reserve Township.
The concerns stemmed from torn and worn out covers at the Lanpher Reservoir in nearby Shaler Township, creating the possibility for contamination.
The advisory also came just hours after a consulting company charged with examining how PWSA should be restructured shared critical initial findings, calling the authority "a failed organization atop a dangerous and crumbling infrastructure."
“We acknowledge there is much work to do tto fix our aging and deteriorating infrastructure to rebuild our water supply and distribution system.
With approval of our Capital Budget Proposal by the PWSA Board, we are actively implementing projects as quickly and efficiently as possible,” said Weimar.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
Walkabout: Water advisory sheds light on what we take for granted
Walkabout: Water advisory sheds light on what we take for granted.
The recent boil-water advisory that affected North Side neighborhoods, Millvale and Reserve was four days of inconvenience.
For whatever reason — probably because I was trained by a mother who always planned for “what ifs” — I had, over the years, rinsed out Clorox jugs when they became empty and filled them with water.
I drank bottled water at work and came home to these jugs that had to be dusted off, then I had to remember to lug one up to the counter if I wanted to rinse a spoon, freshen the pets’ water bowl or wash off a peach.
And then the next morning, so easy to forget and hold the coffee carafe under the water … but I remembered in time to pour it out, then rinse the coffee pot from the jug and then fill it from the jug before pouring water into the coffeemaker.
I want to have faith in the person who says, “Your water is now safe to drink.” On Aug. 28, when the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority alerted about 18,000 customers to boil water before drinking it, that was a precaution.
The reservoir was taken offline and PWSA will reroute water to the affected areas.
But there is reason to believe America may not be as resilient as we expect it to be.
Our rates of poverty, infant mortality and other benchmarks that differentiate the First World from the developing world are rising, and our infrastructure is in serious decline, from bridges and locks and dams to levees and water and sewer systems.
It really is just an inconvenience when you can’t use tap water for three or four days.

MILLVALE (KDKA) — The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority has lifted a boil water advisory in Millvale that has been in place for almost a week.
The PWSA announced just after 9 p.m. Sunday that customers in Millvale no longer have to boil their tap water before drinking it.
“The residents and officials in Millvale have been extremely patient and helpful as we worked through this boil water advisory, and we are grateful for their cooperation.
Our main goal at PWSA is, and will always be, providing safe drinking water to our customers,” PWSA Interim Executive Director Robert Weimar said in a release.
The advisory was issued last Monday night after officials spotted a tear in the cover at the Lanpher reservoir.
Officials were worried about contamination from birds that sit on the cover.
The advisory affected about 18,000 homes in northern areas of Pittsburgh, Reserve Township and Millvale.
The PWSA lifted the advisory in the northern areas of Pittsburgh and Reserve Township on Thursday, but Millvale remained under the advisory for an additional three days.
Anyone with questions can contact the PWSA on their Customer Service Line at 412-255-2423, which opens at 8 a.m. every weekday, or visit their homepage at this link.
PWSA boil water advisory taking toll on Millvale community
PWSA boil water advisory taking toll on Millvale community.
The boil water advisory is still in effect for residents in Millvale nearly a week after it was first issued.
Until the advisory is lifted, it continues to take a toll on the community.
“It’s starting to get frustrating.” With the Labor Day holiday on Monday, many residents are struggling with the simplest of tasks.
Everything from cooking to cleaning dishes and drinking has to be done with bottled water, which is becoming expensive.
The advisory was issued Monday night after officials spotted a tear in the cover at the Lanpher Reservoir.
They were worried about contamination from birds who sit on the cover.
PWSA released a statement on Twitter Saturday night regarding the situation.
“The water advisory continues until more information is available.” On Sunday, PWSA issued a release regarding the advisory, saying “the Millvale water quality results have been within required standards.” However, it said PWSA and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection have conducted additional water tests to provide “an abundance of proof that no water quality violations exist.” PWSA said that the advisory could be lifted within the next few days if the results from samples taken Saturday continue to be satisfactory.
