Boil water notice for Catahoula Parish

Boil water notice for Catahoula Parish.
CATAHOULA PARISH, La.
(Enterprise Waterworks, Inc.) — Catahoula Parish is under a boil water advisory, as outlined in the following press release: The Enterprise Waterworks, Inc. is experiencing problems with the water supply system.
Therefore, as a precaution, the Enterprise Waterworks, Inc. is issuing a BOIL ADVISORY effective immediately.
This BOIL ADVISORY is to remain in effect until rescinded by the Enterprise Waterworks, Inc.
It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means: Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container.
The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil (the flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle or pouring it from one clean container to another).
Again, please be sure to disinfect your own water prior to consumption until you have been advised otherwise.
Upon notification from the Office of Public Health’s State Regional Laboratory that the samples collected from our water supply have been found to be safe, the State Health Department will notify the water supply of the sample results.
Upon such notification, the Enterprise Waterworks, Inc. will then rescind the Boil Advisory and notify its customers that the water has been found to be safe.

Boil water advisory issued for section of SRF

SMOOTH ROCK FALLS – A boil water advisory has been issued for residents located on the north end of Fifth Street in Smooth Rock Falls.
Denis Dolbec, senior operator with the Ontario Clean Water Agency, said the advisory, which was called on Tuesday, will likely remain in effect at least until this upcoming weekend.
During repair work on Fifth Street, a water line was accidentally broken, prompting emergency repairs and subsequent the boil water advisory.
Dolbec told The Daily Press in an interview Tuesday afternoon that once the repairs to the broken valve were completed, public works would have to send two sets of water samples taken 24 hours apart for analysis.
The samples, he said, will be sent to a lab in Kirkland Lake.
If both samples come back clear of contaminants, the boil water advisory will be lifted, he said.
According to a release issued by the Town of Smooth Rock Falls: “The advisory remains in effect until test results show that the water quality is good.
The Town of Smooth Rock Falls will notify the building owners when the boil water advisory has been lifted.” Under a boil water advisory, residents who live at properties serviced by a municipal system should not drink the water, use it to brush their teeth or use it to wash fruits or vegetables, which would be consumed without cooking.
“People should ensure that water used for cooking comes to a full boil.” Aside from concerns about drinking the water, town officials assured the water is safe enough for bathing in and washing clothes.
For more information, residents are invited to contact Kevin Labarron, public works superintendent at the Town of Smooth Rock Falls, or Denis Dolbec, the regional manager with Ontario Clean Water Agency, at 705-362-8481.

Boil advisory to last at least through Wednesday, PWSA director says

A “boil water” advisory affecting some 18,000 homes in Pittsburgh’s northern neighborhoods and in Millvale and Reserve will continue at least through Wednesday, PWSA interim executive director Robert Weimar said Tuesday.
Both PWSA and the state Department of Environmental Protection are concerned about tears in the covering at the Lanpher Reservoir in Shaler, Mr. Weimar said.
They fear that those tears, revealed Monday morning after an expert from California evaluated the holding facility, could lead to contamination.
Under direction from the DEP, Mr. Weimar said, PWSA needs to show two consecutive days of “acceptable water quality tests” before it can lift the advisory.
PWSA has described the advisory as precautionary, taking shape after tests showed potential contamination late last week.
Mr. Weimar said PWSA is bypassing the reservoir in the meantime, sending water directly through a large pipe from the Aspinwall treatment plant to areas normally served by the reservoir.
Several restaurants contacted in the affected area said they were using precautions to protect customers from potentially contaminated water.
The Tequila Cowboy Bar & Grill on North Shore Drive delayed opening for lunch while it waited for delivery of bags of ice, bottled water and canned soda, according to assistant manager Courtney Watkins.
The restaurant also was using boiled water to wash fresh produce and planned to cut down on menu offerings, Ms. Watkins said.
Ten facilities throughout the affected boil water area will serve as water distribution centers:
