Alliance issues water advisory
Alliance issues water advisory.
Major water break disrupting service for Alliance customers Alliance water distribution crews spent most of the work day Monday responding to a water main break in the city’s primary transmission line.
Though many residents found themselves without water around 8 a.m., the majority of them found service restored around noon after city employees had to shut down to repair the break near MAC Trailer.
According to a press release issued Monday afternoon, Mayor Alan Andreani reported that a limited number of residents in the area of Glamorgan Street and South Street were red tagged to advise them to take precautions.
The tags, which are hung on doors of possibly impacted homes, as an advisory to boil water before water consumption.
(See accompanying sidebar.)
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency recommends public water suppliers issue a boil order any time the pressure in the water distribution system drops below 20 psi, and the system is compromised.
Boil orders usually expire after 24 hours and upon to the satisfactory testing of water samples that show the water isn’t contaminated.
If you have not received a red tag on your door, you are not required to boil your water.
"Nothing has been found wrong with the water this is a precaution," Andreani explained.

NORTH STONINGTON — Residents are being asked to boil their water after water samples containing E.Colu and total coliform were found on Wednesday July 12.
The water was immediately decontaminated and retested that day.
Southeastern Water Authority told FOX61 that the results came back on Friday were negative for E.coli but still positive for total coliform.
The tanks were again decontaminated and retested.
A reverse 911 phone call with the warning was issued Monday.
Officials say that only 300 people are affected due to most of North Stonington getting their water from wells.
The majority of people affected are near the center of the town.
Officials say that results were most likely a fluke and the expect to get the most recent test results back Wednesday or Thursday of this week.
They believe the heavy rains from the other week may be a contributing factor in the results.

Residents in North Stonington are being advised to boil water after e-coli was found during a routine testing of distribution tanks.
The first selectman’s office said an alert went out to on Monday to residents who use the Southeastern Connecticut Water Authority, advising them to boil water for at least one minute or use bottled water.
Officials don’t expect the boil advisory to be lifted until Thursday, July 20, at the earliest.
The samplings were done last week, officials from the water authority said.
One came back as containing e-coli and several came back with total coliform.
A second test was done to verify the results and the e-coli all came back negative so officials said they do believe it was a fluke, but they got several confirmations on the total coliform.

Rresidents of the Habersham community are being asked to their water for drinking, cooking or dish washing after a water main failure there , according to an advisory from the Beaufort-Jasper Water and Sewer Authority.
The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control “requires that water utilities issue a boil water advisory as a precautionary measure when such an event occurs that allows the possibility for bacteria to enter the public water system,” according to the BJWSA notice issued Thursday.
A water main failure “may include a loss of water pressure, which could allow bacteria in soil and groundwater to enter water pipes through cracks or leaks,” the advisory said.
Results are expected by late afternoon Friday.
The precautionary advisory will be lifted when the water is confirmed safe, and residents of the area will be notified by the utility.
