Peachland on boil water order
Peachland on boil water order.
Residents living in Peachland are under a boil water order until further notice.
According to the District, a landslide that occurred in March is still causing issues for the Deep Creek area.
Currently the Peachland water quality is rated poor.
Deep Creek is experiencing wide fluctuations in turbidity as the creek level rises and falls due to snow melt and rainfall.
The area is very muddy and it will take awhile for the water to settle.
The Okanagan Lake Pump system is run during spring freshet when the Trepanier Creek source becomes extremely turbid.
When the turbidity of the lake pumps is below 1 NTU, Interior Health Authority has mandated that a water quality advisory be issued when the Okanagan Lake source is used.
IHA recommends that a water quality advisory be instituted while the Okanagan lake pumps are in use.
Once the boil water notice is issued, Interior Health does not remove it until the water returns to ‘GOOD’ status.
Public Water Supply District 2 issues boil water order
District 6 covers House Springs, Hoene Springs and part of Byrnes Mill, but only those who live in the Hoene Springs area are under the boil advisory.
District 2 As of 3 p.m. today (May 1), floodwaters had not breached Public Water District 2’s water treatment plant on Twin River Road in Eureka, but a precautionary mandatory water boil order was issued.
If floodwaters continue to rise, plant manager Steve Ratliff said, the district may shift its water supply to a new well, which the Department of Natural Resources just approved today.
During the flood in late December 2015, the water plant was flooded and water had to be brought in for district residents to use.
Residents also were issued a boil water order at that time.
If the new well is put into production, the district will at least have a continual supply of water, even though a boil water order will still be in effect, Ratliff said.
“These are not the flood levels we saw last year, but backup from the Meramec could be a problem,” Ratliff said.
Designs have been prepared for the berm but have not yet been approved by FEMA, District Manager, Bob Snelson said.
District 6 Public Water Supply District 6 on Monday afternoon issued a boil water advisory for customers in the Hoene Springs area.
During a boil order, customers are advised to boil water vigorously for three minutes prior to use.
Precautionary Boil Water Advisory – 1300 Block of Richmond Street in Brunswick – Monday, May 1, 2017
This water main must be relocated to accommodate conflicts within the underground utility layout.
Work is scheduled to be completed by 1:00 pm today, at which time, samples will be taken to determine water quality.
This loss of pressure in the distribution system may cause back-pressure, back-siphonage, or a net movement of water from outside the pipe to the inside through cracks, breaks, or joints in the distribution system that are common in all water systems.
Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice.
Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.
Bathing, showering and toilet flushing may be performed using water from the tap without boiling it first.
They may pose a special health risk for infants, young children, some of the elderly and people with severely compromised immune systems.
The symptoms above are not caused only by organisms in drinking water.
If you experience any of these symptoms and they persist, you may want to seek medical advice.

2nd boil water order issued for parts of Doaktown
2nd boil water order issued for parts of Doaktown.
Another boil water order has been issued for parts of Doaktown, effective immediately, after "unfavourable weather conditions" turned the water cloudy.
The order affects all municipal water system users between 84 Main St. and 430 Main St. and all side streets west of the Doaktown Bridge, with the exception of Miramichi Street, a notice issued by the village on Monday states.
Because of the high turbidity, all water for drinking, preparing infant formulas and juices, washing fruits and vegetables, cooking or dental hygiene, must be held at a rolling boil for one minute before use, the advisory says.
"Toddlers and infants should be sponge-bathed and caregivers need to ensure no water is swallowed."
The boil order remains in place until further notice.
This is the second boil order for the approximately 160 affected homes and businesses in recent weeks.
The previous order was in effect for about two weeks, between April 12 and April 25.
"Village council sincerely regrets any inconvenience this may cause to our residents and businesses," the notice issued on Monday states.
"We appreciate your co-operation."

Water Research Foundation focuses efforts on community engagement
DENVER, CO, MARCH 31, 2017 — The Water Research Foundation (WRF), a leading sponsor of innovative research supporting the water community, is pleased to announce a new project that will help clean water agencies explore how forward thinking utilities and companies leverage emotional motivators in public engagement programs to develop sustainable relationships with their customers. Awareness of water scarcity is disconnected from the deceptive abundance of this resource in many developed countries. This poses a challenge to clean water agencies advocating water stewardship. Social scientists such as Paul Slovic and Daniel Kahneman have long recognized the power of emotional involvement (the affect heuristic) in decision making and hence community building. Effective messaging and educative materials and/or programs that take advantage of research on emotional connectors is vital to tangibly demonstrate the value of water and the technology that creates clean water. WRF’s new project, “Forging Powerful and Sustainable Relationships Between Clean Water Agencies and the Community” (#4678), has two main objectives: Assess which emotional motivators and customer engagement practices are…
Line break causes Water Boil advisory in Mathis
Line break causes Water Boil advisory in Mathis.
CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) – The City of Mathis issued a Water Boil advisory Saturday night.
Due to a line break and reduced distribution system pressure, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the City of Mathis’ John A. Standlea Water Treatment Plant public water system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc).
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.
In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers that rescinds the boil water notice in a manner similar to this notice.
The City of Mathis asks that you share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly.
If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact City Manager, Michael Barrera at 361-945-7967 or Interim Director of Public Works, Gabriel Ortiz at 361-533-0467.
