Franklin is using the liquor permit process to object to the renewal of the liquor permit of the New York New York Cabaret strip club which is the focus of an ongoing criminal investigation.
All liquor permits in Franklin come up for renewal on June 1 and if there is an objection, that would need to be filed by May 1 with the Ohio Division of Liquor Control for a hearing to be held at the Warren County Administration Building in Lebanon, said Donnette Fisher, city law director.
Council approved a resolution to object to the renewal on the recommendation of Fisher and Police Chief Russ Whitman.

Whitman told the Journal-News that there may additional charges filed by the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.
An additional charge of prostitution, a third-degree misdemeanor, was filed against Hindy on Tuesday.
She was arraigned on both charges Tuesday in Franklin Municipal Court.

Spotsy advises many residents to boil water before using

Spotsylvania County is advising many residents to boil their water before using it as a result of a water main break on U.S. 1 Friday morning.
Some homes may have lower-than-normal water pressure and discolored water until repairs are complete.
Residents can still take baths or showers, but should be careful not to swallow the water.
The county will collect water samples in coordination with the Virginia Department of Health.
Workers are also flushing discolored water from the lines, which will take about 12 hours to clear, a county spokeswoman said early Friday afternoon.
Deputy County Administrator Ed Petrovitch said rising temperatures could have caused the break, though he could not confirm that.
“Typically, this time of year is when we see thermal breaks because of the change in the ground temperature,” he said.
“Spring is the season.” The 12-inch, cast-iron pipe that broke was installed in the 1970s, Petrovitch said.
He said that section of the pipe will be replaced as the area south and east of Cosner’s Corner is developed.

Aspinwall Borough Boil Water Advisory Set To Expire Today
Aspinwall Borough Boil Water Advisory Set To Expire Today.
ASPINWALL (KDKA) – A Boil Water Advisory for Aspinwall Borough, first announced Wednesday morning, was extended through Friday at 3 p.m.
Problems for residents began Wednesday morning, and there were plans to have the problem solved by 10 a.m. that same day.
That didn’t happen, and folks in the area have been boiling their tap water since then.
Some had brown water flowing out of their taps, a few had total service interruption.
The water pressure was low and it could have resulted in bacterial contamination.
The pump has now been repaired, but tests are currently being done to assure residents that the water is safe.
The borough manager says it takes about two days to get the water samples analyzed.
Residents can use the water without boiling it for taking showers and washing laundry, but those using it for drinking it or cooking should continue to boil it.
Those with questions are asked to call the borough office or go to the borough website for the latest updates.
New members and water leak occupy Schell City council
David McCubbin was sworn in for a one-year term as mayor, filling the remainder of Tom Haddix’s term.
Koshko served on the council previously, leaving the council in early 2016.
Eldon Craig, who was out of town, was unable to attend the meeting.
“It really bothered him to not be able to be here,” Lee said The seat vacated by McCubbin’s accession to mayor Wednesday evening remains open.
McKinney said she was willing to vote for herself if McCubbin thinks it necessary to not wait for more council members to be present.
Following miscellaneous business, discussion turned to a major water leak that occurred on April 4 at Hickory and First streets, where three water mains connected.
“We don’t know yet,” Lee said in response to a Jim Goodman’s question on how much water the city lost.
“As soon as I called Terry [Smith], he came straight into town and stopped at the main connection and shut it off.” That was at 5 a.m. “The people that didn’t have water at midnight should have called someone.” Lee said.
Lee, the city’s licensed water system operator, issued the boil advisory the morning of the leak.
• Lee said an employee from CenturyLink got stuck in the mud in the alley on Oak Street between Third Street and Fourth Street two weeks ago following several days of rain and had to have his vehicle pulled out.
