According to the Langley Water, Sewer, and Fire District, residents no longer need to boil their water prior to drinking or cooking.

LANGLEY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) — A water main break has caused a boil water advisory for several customers of the Langley Water & Sewer District.

South Carolina DHEC is recommending residents who live on High Street, New Street, Robinson Street, Hillside Road or between 2963 and 3025 Augusta Road to boil their water for at least one full minute prior to drinking or cooking.

Langley Water & Sewer District maintains that there has been no confirmed contamination of the system. Due to the loss of pressure and service of many customers, customers are advised to boil as a precautionary measure.

Crews are currently working to restore pressure and service to the affected areas. If you have any questions concerning the boil water advisory, call the Langley Water & Sewer Office at 803-593-3404.

City issues boil advisory

The city of Ada is advising residents to boil their water before using it for household tasks.

Officials issued the boil advisory Tuesday because high levels of sediment were found in the main water storage facility at the water treatment plant, which created the potential for contamination, public information director Lisa Bratcher said in a news release. She added that the water may be unsafe for human consumption as a result.

“As a precaution, it is advised that the consumers of this water system bring the water to full, rolling boil for at least one minute before consumption, food preparation, dish washing, tooth brushing, wound care and bathing infants who may ingest bath water,” she said.

The advisory will remain in effect until further notice, but officials anticipated the problem would be temporary, Bratcher said.

Authorities issue Baumholder water boil advisory

originally posted on November 25, 2016

Troops living off-post in the greater Baumholder area are advised to boil their water before drinking it after a test on municipal water supplies detected higher than normal levels of E.coli, officials said.

The cities of Birkenfeld and Sankt Wendel issued the warnings, which apply to a series of communities and villages in the surrounding area, including Baumholder. Residents are advised to boil tap water for five minutes before drinking it.

The garrison’s water supply in Baumhlolder, which runs independently from municipal systems, was unaffected, U.S. Army Europe said in a Thursday advisory.

Andreas Kramer, medical doctor with St. Wendel’s public health office, said on Friday that the advisory would likely remain in effect for the next day or two as more testing is done.

An announcement will be made when the restriction is lifted, he said.

In June, German authorities issued a similar warning about high levels of E.coli in the Baumholder area’s water supply. Subsequent tests came back negative, however, and the advisory was lifted after a matter of days.

At the time, German officials suspected that the contamination happened as a result of heavy rain, which might have caused water to run through farm fields fertilized with manure.

Friday UPDATE -Newton Water Main Break

NEWTON, NJ – The Boil Water advisory remains in effect, according to Newton officials.  They anticipate it will be necessary to boil water before using it for “several days.” The town is following New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection guidelines.  “Until further notice, residents should bring tap water to a rolling boil for one minute and allow it to cool before using for consumption, drinking, washing of vegetables and fruit and brushing teeth,” town officials said.  “Residents should continue to boil water until they have been notified that the water quality is acceptable.”

The water buffalos are still available at the #1 fire house on Mill Street and the #2 fire house at Woodside Avenue.

As of 8:15 p.m. the Town of Newton said the repair area was being back filled.  Additionally, all valves were slowly being opened, increasing the pressure and water lines were being bled by running fire hydrants.  Full pressure could be anticipated around 10:15 p.m.  Officials remind residents that the boil water advisory remains in effect until further notice.

AT 6:25 p.m. the Town of Newton reported the work crews had replaced 18 feet of pipe.  They were in the process of tightening the last of the bolts on the new pipe.  They will then begin the process of turning the valves on flushing the hydrants to ease the water back into the system.

As of 5 p.m. the Town of Newton has issues a boil water advisory. As water begins to be restored please be sure to boil your water before using it.  They will notify residents when the advisory is lifted.

The Town of Newton reports Water and DPW crews have located the break and are still hard at work on the repair.  At this time they cannot give a time that the water service will be restored.

Drinking water is now also available at #2 Firehouse on Woodside Avenue.

Rome mayor: Water sample contained E. coli.

Mayor Jacqueline Izzo said in an emailed statement Thursday that one sample taken Tuesday and submitted to the Oneida County Health Department contained E. coli.

A boil water advisory remains in effect for the city of Rome.

Mayor Jacqueline Izzo said in an emailed statement Thursday that one sample taken Tuesday and submitted to the Oneida County Health Department contained E. coli.

“All samples taken from Wednesday have been negative showing a good response to our retreatment of the water supply,” Izzo said in the statement. “Following Oneida County and State Health Department protocols, the boil water order must stay in effect for another 24-hour sampling of the water supply.”

Izzo said in the statement that an update on the situation is expected Friday afternoon.

The boil water advisory was issued after a contractor broke a feeder main connecting the water filtration plant to the main line, Izzo said earlier this week. The order will keep customers from drinking untreated water, which may have moved through the water system.

The city consulted with the health department and then issued the order for all customers of Rome’s water system.

The contractor is working to identify the line and restore service while city water department workers are working to restore treated water to the system.

For any further information or questions concerning issues related to the advisory, residents may contact the Oneida County Health Department at ocgov.net/health or by telephone at 798-5064
