DUNMORE — Repairs are complete after a problem at a water plant in Dunmore impacted service to thousands of customers.
While some people still don’t have water, others–including residents in parts of the Abingtons–should boil their water until further notice.
A spokesperson for Pennsylvania American Water said repairs were completed Saturday night at the plant on Mill Street in Dunmore.
Service should be back on for all customers by Sunday morning.
For people who spent the day dealing with water problems, things can’t get back to normal soon enough.
"So we had to take a few trips to the water buffalo."
"We’re going to go to the gym and work out and take a shower there for now and take it from there," said Carissa Stout of Dunmore.
At the Chestnut Street Tavern, there was no water, so customers contented themselves with beer.
Water Main Break Prompts Boil Water Advisory, School Closings in Endicott
October 19, 2016
Officials with the Village of Endicott have issued a boil-water advisory for the Village of Endicott, areas of Endwell, parts of West Corners, and to those who are part of the Endicott Water District in the wake of a major water main break on Tuesday, October 18th.
Crews are working to repair the water main at the corner of Harrison Avenue and Park Street. As a result, officials are advising residents not to drink water unless they boil it first, until further notice. Officials said if any resident experiences a loss of water or water pressure, they should also follow the boil-water advisory.
During a boil-water advisory, residents should bring water to a boil for one minute past a roiling boil, and then let it cool before using it, or use bottled water. Boiling kills most bacteria and other organisms in the water. Not boiling water and drinking harmful microbes can pose a big health risk for infants, some elderly and people with compromised immune systems.
The Village of Endicott Water Department is working to repair the line and will issue another notice when the water is safe to drink.
Due to the water main break, All Saints Catholic Elementary School in Endicott will be closed on Wednesday, October 19th. Also closed will be Union-Endicott school district and Maine-Endwell school district.

Boil water advisory lifted for Green Valley Road
By Times-Herald staff report, originally posted on October 19, 2016
A precautionary boil water advisory for Green Valley Road and Terminal Reservoir Road residents has been lifted, city officials say.
Residents on Rockville Road west of Suisun Valley Road that were affected can now also resume regular water use.
The City of Vallejo issued the statement at approximately 1 p.m. Wednesday through various social media outlets.
Some discoloration or sediment may still be found in the water, which is normal for water main repairs, the city said.
Faucets not in use since the main break may also have air in the pipelines. If this occurs, residents are advised to run cold water through a faucet without an aerator, such as a bathtub, for a few minutes until the water runs clear and there is no more air in the pipes.
The boil water advisory stemmed from an eight-foot longitudinal split found Monday on a water distribution pipeline leaving the Green Valley Water Treatment Plant.
The Treatment Plant was taken offline while crews performed necessary repairs and excavation operations to remove and replace the broken pipeline.
When water was flowing again at 6 a.m. Tuesday, water pressure in the distribution area was lower than average, prompting the advisory.
Water Division Laboratory tested water samples from seven locations in the area after repairs were made to ensure the water was unaffected by the main break.
Their tests were returned Wednesday morning and found no negative impacts to the water quality.
City officials handed out cases of bottled water Tuesday at Cordelia Fire Station and Rockville and Green Valley roads to help the estimated 400 families affected by the boil water advisory cope during the boil water advisory.
It is still unknown how much water was lost due to the brake.

Boil water advisory: U-E, M-E schools closed
By John R. Roby, originally posted on October 18, 2016
A water main break in Endicott has affected service in much of the village and forced the cancellation of school in the Union-Endicott and Maine-Endwell school district Wednesday.
All residents within the Endicott water district, including the Village of Endicott and parts of West Corners and Endwell, are under a boil water advisory until further notice. Water should be boiled for at least one minute before drinking, cooking, washing dishes, brushing teeth or making ice.
All Saints Catholic Elementary School will also be closed Wednesday.
The closures and boil water advisory followed the break of a 24-inch main at Harrison Avenue and Park Street at about 8 p.m. Tuesday, which cut water downtown and reduced pressure throughout the village, Mayor John Bertoni said. Public safety is a priority, he said, and cautioned drivers to avoid the area near the break.
“We have contacted other municipalities to ensure fire protection is not a problem,” Bertoni said. “We’re working as quickly as we can, but the outcome will have a drifting effect into tomorrow.”
All Union-Endicott schools will be closed Wednesday, according to the district. Employees who would typically report during a snow day, or those who work in the central office, should contact their direct supervisor.
“We will be looking into reason behind the break, but right now we’re worried about getting service back online,” Bertoni said.
Vallejo sends water boiling advisory to Green Valley residents
By Daily Republic staff, originally posted on October 19, 2016
FAIRFIELD — Green Valley residents served by the Vallejo water system have been boiling their water or using bottled water since Monday because of a crack discovered in a distribution pipeline leaving the Green Valley Water Treatment Plant.
The city is providing bottled water for residents in the area north of Green Valley and Terminal Reservoir roads, including on Rockville Road west of Suisun Valley Road.
Water will be available starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Cordelia Fire Station, 1624 Rockville Road, or at Rockville and Green Valley roads.
The 8-foot longitudinal split in the 14-inch main was discovered about 3 p.m. Monday, after which the city issued an advisory for residents to boil their water for drinking, preparing food, washing dishes and brushing their teeth until further notice.
“The boil advisory is a precautionary measure stemming from the loss of water pressure caused by the 14-inch main break. Any time water pressure drops below the threshold set by the state Water Resources Control Board, water quality samples must be tested to ensure that water quality is not negatively affected,” a statement issued by the city said.
Ice cubes made with tap water or from water lines directly to their refrigerators should be discarded. Those residents who lost water service are also advised to boil their water when service is restored, the city said.
About 400 service addresses have been affected by this break. Water should be boiled for at least one minute.
“If customers have pets and are unsure about providing water to them during this advisory, they are advised to consult their veterinarian,” the city said. “Tap water may be used for showering, bathing and other household uses.”
