Authorities advise Pelican Rapids residents to boil tap water
PELICAN RAPIDS, Minn. — Authorities here are advising residents to boil tap water before drinking or using it for daily needs.
The boil water advisory was put in place after repairs were made to a water main that temporarily shut down, said Don Solga, Pelican Rapids city administrator.
He said the advisory will remain in place until at least Friday morning, Oct. 19, while authorities finish testing water samples.
The advisory is in effect for about 500 homes and businesses south of First Avenue North.
The advisory suggests people boil water and use it once it has cooled for daily needs like drinking, brushing teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, feeding pets, preparing food or baby formula and making ice.
Solga said the advisory could be in place until Saturday, Oct. 20.
Residents will be notified once the advisory has been lifted, he said.

OSAGE COUNTY – A boil water advisory is in effect for some residents in Osage County until further notice.
According to the Osage County Emergency Operations Center, the advisory affects residents on the county’s number three public water district.
The district includes residents along the following areas: County Road 300 County Road 305 County Road 420 Highway 100 (starting at County Road 300 and Highway 100 up to Country Road 421) Hill Top Lane Jody Drive High Plains Lane Lakeside Lane Residents in the impacted areas should use only boiled or bottled water.
People with questions should contact the Osage County Health Department at 573-897-3103.

Boil water advisory issued on Carolina Road
A boil water advisory has been issued for water customers of Carolina Road according to the City of Columbia Water Works.
Water customers of Carolina Road from Greenlawn Drive to Eugene Street are advised to boil their water for at least one full minute before drinking or cooking.
Anyone who has lost water pressure should also follow those guidelines.
It is also advised to avoid ice that isn’t made with boiled water.
The City experienced a six-inch water break that could lead to bacterial contamination.
They are currently working on the issue.

Boil water notice rescinded for some Leon County water systems
In a news release Thursday, U.S. Water Corp. said that "The satisfactory completion of a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink."

(WTXL) – A boil water advisory has been issued for the following water systems until further notice because of the effects of Hurricane Michael, according to the U.S. Water Corp. Brewster Subdivision Bucklake Estates Subdivision Meadow Hills Subdivision Northlake Meadows Subdivision Plantation Estates Subdivision Sedgefield Subdivison The corporation says that it issues notices to boil water when the water system loses power and water pressure.
Water pressure keeps pollutants from entering the underground pipes that bring water to houses and businesses.
You can also buy commercial bottled water for consumption and food preparation as an alternative.
Under a boil water notice, water used for consumption can be disinfected by these methods: Bringing the water to a rolling boil and holding it there for one (1) minute, Using a disinfecting chemical.
If you cannot boil water, you should put eight (8) drops of common household bleach (unscented) which is about 1/8th teaspoon, into one (1) gallon of tap water, then shake it, and allow it to stand for 30 minutes before drinking.
If the water is cloudy, use sixteen (16) drops, about 1/4 teaspoon of bleach instead of 8, shake it, and let it stand for 30 minutes.
There should be a slight chlorine odor.
Use food grade containers.
Using water purification tablets or iodine that many sports and camping stores sell, and follow their directions.
Boil advisory issued for the City of Uniontown
The City of Uniontown has issued a water boil advisory for the area bounded by Hobson Street, Adams Street, Jackson Street, and Sigsbee Street.
Residents may notice cloudy or discolored water due to flushing of lines in regards to this boil advisory.
This advisory will go until further notice, according to Uniontown Police Chief Jeffery Hart.
Large-scale boil water advisory in Hull begins Saturday
Residents of Gatineau’s Hull area are reminded that a preventive boil water advisory period begins Saturday, as a new phase begins in large-scale upgrade of the city’s water system.
The advisory is expected to last at least five days.
The Hull water treatment plant is in the middle of a $68-million project aimed at upgrading the aging facility.
Officials expect work, which has been underway since the spring of 2017, to be completed by the summer of 2019.
Affected residents may notice a slight yellowish or brownish discoloration in the water.
Residents of Manoir des Trembles may notice a slight decrease in their water pressure.
Once the preventive boil water advisory has been lifted, cold water taps should be left running for one minute or until the water gets cold before it is used (the same procedure should be followed with water fountains); and any ice made from tap water during the preventive boil water advisory should be discarded.

Water boil advisory lifted for City of Aransas Pass
Corpus Christi (KIII News) — The City of Aransas Pass gave word Friday that a water boil advisory issued to residents one week before has officially been lifted.
The water boil was first issued last Friday after a power outage sent the City’s water storage tanks offline, causing water pressure to drop below-mandated state levels.
Crews flushed out water lines and took water samples to submit to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality before getting the green light to lift the advisory.

City of Leesburg retracts Boil Water Advisory
LEESBURG — A Boil Water Advisory issued last week by the City of Leesburg was inadvertently sent out Thursday and posted on a local media web site.
Leesburg City Manager quickly issued an email retracting the advisory and explained what happened.
“The City of Leesburg lifted the Boil Water advisory last Saturday afternoon.
Evidently the initial advisory went out today when the our computers went back on line,” Alexander wrote.
“The city’s water is safe to drink and use with food.
We are sorry for any inconvenience the earlier transmission might have caused.” The post was quickly removed from the media web site.
CORRECTION: Leesburg not under boil water advisory
LEESBURG, GA (WALB) – On Thursday morning the City of Leesburg issued a release that the city was under a boil advisory.
WALB shared that notice with the public after officials sent it.
This boil advisory, however is not active as previously stated.
Leesburg Water and Wastewater Superintendent Russ Ferguson told WALB that the notice was sent out by accident, and no water advisory is in effect.
Officials said a computer error caused old messages to be resent when email systems were brought back online.
The city’s water system previously lost all electrical power to the system’s wells because of Hurricane Michael.
