Boil Advisory Issued For The City Of Walnut
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued a boil water advisory for the City of Walnut located in Crawford County.
Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic icemaker.
Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.
Water used for bathing does not generally need to be boiled.
Supervision of children is necessary while bathing so that water is not ingested.
Persons with cuts or severe rashes may wish to consult their physicians.
If your tap water appears dirty, flush the water lines by letting the water run until it clears.
KDHE officials issued the advisory because of a line break resulting in a loss of pressure in the system.
Failure to maintain adequate pressure may result in a loss of chlorine residuals and bacterial contamination.

Water main break causes boil advisory
DES MOINES – This is what fourth street looked like earlier this weekend.
Water flooded into areas along the street like Bernardo’s and the Copper Cup.
Vendors were struggling to salvage what they could.
"It was pretty chaotic, there were people running everywhere."
"At first i was a little shocked, I mean normally that would happen in a rural area of Iowa, so to happen downtown Des Moines it’s definitely different," said Rosen, who lives on 4th st. it may be an inconvenience, but Rosen said he is fine with that.
"But I am glad they are taking precautions and keeping our safety in mind rather than risking someone getting sick or going to the hospital," said Rosen.
Moving forward Rosen can’t help but wonder how the businesses will hold up.
"Java Joe’s it is right outside their build, so I can only imagine what they are going to go through," said Rosen.
But, he’s grateful the situation wasn’t worse.
"Honestly i thought it was going to be a lot bigger and spread the whole road and not just one hole," said Rosen.
Boil-water advisory for Venetian Isles lifted
A boil-water advisory was lifted for the Venetian Isles area of New Orleans East Sunday evening (Aug. 5), according to the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans.
The advisory was announced Saturday morning while SW&B workers were replacing three leaking hydrants along a Chef Menteur Highway water line that serves all customers east of Industrial Parkway, including Textron and Venetian Isles.
Tests confirmed water in the area was safe to drink Sunday and could be used for personal needs, SW&B said in a news release shortly before 8:30 p.m.
However, residents in the Venetian Isles area are advised to flush their pipes by running water through their system for several minutes.
Community Comes Together To Bring Bottled Water To Jones Residents
JONES, Oklahoma – The town of Jones City is under a boil water advisory after E. coli was found in the water.
On Sunday, a community came together to help each other with this one basic but necessary need.
“Our neighbors really matter to us and we just want them to be safe,” said O’Neal.
On Sunday, members of the church jumped into action.
The church is collecting donations of bottled water to hand out to anyone in need.
The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality is working with the town to uncover how the bacteria contaminated the water supply.
“As long as you follow the directives that are set forth by the Public Works Department and by the DEQ, you should be fine.” Those directives include bringing water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using or use bottled water.
“There’s some people here just can’t get out and get around and a four-dollar case of water is a big deal for a lot of people,” he said.
These are good people; the people of Jones are good people.” This issue could take up to two weeks to resolve but the community will be updated through flyers and social media on when the water is once again safe.
If you need water, you can contact the First United Methodist Church at (405) 399-2926 or on Facebook.

Missouri American Water lifts boil order for portion of northern St. Louis County
Update: On Sunday evening (August 5, 2018), Missouri American Water lifted the precautionary boil water advisory issued Saturday for a portion of north St. Louis County in the St. Ann and Overland communities.
More information: www.missouriamwater.com.
Missouri American Water sent this message to affected customers: "This is a message from Missouri American Water.
We’re calling to tell you that we have issued a precautionary boil water advisory in your area, due to a large water main break.
We are asking customers to bring their water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using it for drinking or cooking.
The precautionary boil water advisory will be in effect until water quality samples confirm that the water remains safe for consumption.
Precautionary boil water advisories normally last about 48 hours.
We will call you again when the boil water advisory has been lifted."
“We have to buy bottled water and sell it or they can’t drink water I assume,” says the chef.
Missouri American Water is asking customers to bring their water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using it for drinking or cooking but tap water is okay for washing and bathing.
Fourth Street businesses plan to open after water main break causes closure Saturday
Tim Brehm, who has owned Java Joes since 2007, was on Fourth Street when the water main ruptured, which caused a small vibration and their table to lower.
Bill Stowe, of Des Moines Water Works, said though all the Fourth Street businesses were inconvenienced, he was most concerned about Java Joes’ accessibility.
He said after the main broke, the water traveled south, spilling out next to a Bosnian food vendor, Papillion, near The Randolph.
Java Joe’s is a regular at the Farmers’ Market and plans to be there next Saturday, if there is a spot for them, considering there is a hole in their usual location.
Foss said there are about 30 vendors on Fourth Street each Saturday, about 20 of which are regulars.
Some vendors brought their items into Java Joe’s, since they couldn’t bring their cars to the area.
Brehm said Java Joe’s employees spent the rest of Saturday in the Fourth Street location, answering calls and letting people know they still have two other Des Moines locations for their coffee needs — at 620 Cherry St. and 4944 Douglas Ave. Java Joe’s was able to open Sunday, and they were well-equipped, thanks to the catering side of the business.
They are able to hook up their machines to bottled water, so they can avoid using city water over the course of the 72-hour boil advisory the area is under.
Stowe said the burst was caused by an aging infrastructure, saying the main on Fourth Street may have been placed in 1900.
Much of the city’s piping system is built of cast iron that needs to be replaced.
