Albion residents warned to boil water until Friday after water main break

ALBION, Mich. — School is canceled today for students in Marshall Public Schools after a massive water main break prompted a boil water advisory.
Residents throughout the city were without water for most of Monday as public works crews spent much of the day working to restore water service.
Water was restored just before midnight, but as a precaution, Marshall Public Schools has canceled class for Tuesday.
City officials are now asking residents to boil their water for the rest of the week.
Albion’s Church of the Nazerene was reportedly handing out water to residents late Monday night and has plans to hand out water later Tuesday morning.

During a boil water advisory, it is recommended that customers boil for three minutes any tap water they intend to use for consumption, such as for drinking, cooking or making ice.
After boiling water, customers should let the water cool before consuming it.
Pets are not excluded from the advisory and should be given safe drinking water.

TRYON, NC (FOX Carolina) – The city of Tryon is urging water customers near Harmon Field to boil their water before drinking or cooking with it.
Officials said Monday morning that water service had been restored to the Harmon Field/US176 area, but people may notice air and debris in their water lines.
A hydrant was opened at Harmon Field to help clear the lines in the area.
Customers in that area also under this System Pressure Advisory from the Tryon Water Plant: Water consumers of the Town of Tryon, in the area of Harmon Field Road and US 176 from Country Club Road to Little House Road in Polk County are experiencing periods of low pressure and outages in the distribution system due to water main break at US176 and Harmon Field Rd.
Therefore, when water service is restored consumers are advised to boil all water used for human consumption (including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation) or use bottled water.
Vigorous boiling for one (1) minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.
This advisory remains in effect until further written notification is issued.

Water boil advisory lifted in Creston, but kept in place elsewhere

A water boil warning was issued last Friday for Creston and nine surrounding counties until further notice after the filtering system at the 12-Mile Treatment Plant had a failure.
Brian Powers, bpowers@dmreg.com The city of Creston has been removed from a drinking water advisory that has affected nine southwest Iowa counties for the last 11 days.
The Southern Iowa Rural Water Association posted on its website that the advisory was lifted as of 6:30 p.m. Sunday for only those customers who pay their water bills to Creston Water Works.
The advisory remains in effect for those in the rural areas surrounding Creston and in several other counties, which are served through SIRWA from the processing plant at Creston Water Works.

Dan McIntosh, the general manager of the SIRWA and Creston Water Works’ treatment plant, said in a news release Sunday that the utility will post a map Monday identifying cities and areas that have been released from the advisory.

Customers have been advised to boil their tap water before consuming it.
Officials have cautioned that the water supply may contain bacteria, viruses and parasites that can cause nausea, cramps, diarrhea and headaches.
The tap water is still suitable for bathing and safe for pets and livestock, McIntosh has previously told the Register.

Boil advisory lifted for some Bell City residents

The boil advisory previously issued for Bell City customers of Jeff Davis Water Commission #1 has been lifted.
The water is now safe for consumption.
The water had been shut off on June 7 for crews to repair a water leak.

Creston Water Now Safe After Boil Advisory

CRESTON, Iowa — Creston residents are receiving some good news on Sunday night.
The Southern Iowa Rural Water Association’s website says the water in Creston has been deemed safe for drinking and cooking.
This comes after a boil advisory was issued for Adair, Adams, Decatur, Madison, Ringgold, Taylor, and Union Counties.
That boil advisory has been in effect since June 1st, after a filtration issue was found at the 12-Mile Water Treatment Plant.
Samples from the west water tower in Creston were sent to Storm Lake on Sunday.
There is also new water in the lines in Lenox and Diagonal, but no word yet regarding whether that water is also deemed safe.

Boil water advisory lifted in Lake Waccamaw

A three-day boil water advisory has been lifted for Lake Waccamaw residents as of 2 p.m. Sunday.
Some customers of the Lake Waccamaw Water System in Columbus County had low pressure and outages due to a leaking water main at 1902 Lake Shore Drive.
As a result, a boil water advisory is in effect for some customers Friday evening.
The areas that were affected include those from Pecan Lane to the end of Bella Coola Road and all side streets including Maple Street, Bartram Lane, Jefferson Road, Creek Ridge, Bella Coola, Council Avenue, Myrtle Drive, Elm Street, Lakewood Drive, Pine Street, Birch Street and from 1502 Lake Shore to 2014 Lake Shore Drive.

Pepsi, Anheuser-Busch partner with Hy-Vee to donate 26,000 gallons of water to Iowa communities affected by boil advisory

Brian Powers, bpowers@dmreg.com After donating 20,000 gallons of water Monday, Hy-Vee announced its supplier partners Pepsi Beverages Company and Anheuser-Busch LLC will add more than 6,000 gallons of bottled water to southern Iowa communities affected by the ongoing boil advisory.
Bottled water was distributed Friday and Saturday to communities affected by a membrane filtration system failure at Creston’s Twelve Mile Water Plant that has left thousands of Iowans without clean drinking water for more than a week.
This round of donations was supplied to the cities of Macksburg, Murray, Grand River, Ellston, Prescott, Lenox and Nodaway.

SCHENECTADY – Another boil water advisory has been issued in the town of Rotterdam.
Schenectady County officials say it’s for the area of Hollywood Avenue between Fairlane and Curry roads.
They say it’s due to a water main break.
