All residents of the city of Châteauguay are being asked to boil their tap water for at least one minute before drinking it.

The city said a finding of coliform higher than government norms was detected at the water plant, and the boil water advisory is in place until the bacteria levels return to normal.

The city will publish updates about the situation as it changes on its website (www.ville.chateauguay.qc.ca) and its social networking sites.
