City, county facing weekend water breaks
ZANESVILLE – Local city, village and county water departments dealt with multiple water main breaks over the weekend and Monday.
"That’s on the property owners," Mills said.
"Most of the times they stop heating their basement and their pipes freeze, so keep heating your basement."
The Muskingum County Water Department also faced a break on Dresdan Road on Sunday night.
Repairs were completed within an hour, department manager Don Madden said, slightly longer than usual as the break affected a larger area.
"It’s brutal weather having to work out in," Madden said.
"The crew gets high marks."
The city and county breaks themselves were not a result of the weather, Madden and Mills said.
Breaks most often occur after shifts in the ground such as sinkholes, Mills said.
