City issues boil water advisory for Porcupine residents

A water break has led to a precautionary boil water advisory for residents east of the Porcupine River bridge.
“Unfortunately, the break has affected customers east of the Porcupine River Bridge and will not have water until repairs are completed,” reads the notice on the City of Timmins website.
Water is expected to be restored by 9 p.m. Due to the break, the City of Timmins and Porcupine Health Unit has issued the precautionary boil water advisory for residents using the municipal water system east of the bridge in Porcupine.
“The Boil Water Advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure until such time that repairs can be completed and microbiological testing can be performed,” reads the notice.
After repairs are finished, the water supply will be tested to see if it’s potable.
Residents will be notified when the advisory is lifted.
