Cohoes ends boil water advisory

The boil water advisory issued on Friday for much of the City of Cohoes after a main water valve break was lifted Sunday afternoon.
The advisory covered nearly 3000 households.
The affected areas of Friday’s outage were put under the precautionary advisory until tests results found there is no bacteria present.
The main that broke on Berkley Avenue Friday dates back to about 1910.
The water emergency affected between 2,500 and 3,000 households in an area stretching from Cohoes Falls to the Lansing Pool.
Residents can now drink and use city water as they would normally do.
