Cold temperatures cause water main breaks

KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The cold has resulted in a pair of water main breaks on major streets in Kalamazoo.
The first occurred on Burdick Street between Lake Street and Stockbridge Avenue that has closed the street to traffic until repairs are made.
The second and more significant break occurred under one of the west bound lanes of West Main in the block just east of Drake Road.
A boil water advisory has been issued for the north side of West Main from Drake to Piccadilly, including the Penn Station Subs, the Coney Island, and the offices of a tax preparer and a State Farm Agent.
It could be Tuesday or Wednesday before they get test results back.
