Frankenmuth lifts boil water advisory for northern part of city

FRANKENMUTH (WJRT) (9/4/2018) – A boil water advisory in place for the northern part of Frankenmuth since Friday has been lifted.
Water samples taken 24 hours apart both came back clean, allowing the city to lift the advisory.
That means people can drink and cook with the water as normal.
“We appreciate the patience of the businesses and the community at large.
We apologize for the major inconvenience experienced since Friday morning," said City Manager Bridget Smith.
The boil water advisory was issued when construction crews working to put a new water main on Junction Street into service encountered a major leak with the old line it was replacing.
That caused the system generally north of the Cass River to lose pressure, which could allow harmful bacteria in.
After repairing the leak and flushing the water system over the weekend, the required samples were taken.
City officials are urging residents who were away for Labor Day weekend to run their faucets for a few minutes to let any remaining sediment to clear before using it to drink, bathe or cook.
