Garden City Boil Water Advisory lifted following outage

GARDEN CITY, GA (WTOC) – Garden City has lifted a boil water advisory that was put in place as a precautionary measure after the city experienced a water outage Thursday morning.
The city advised residents living in the area bounded by Dean Forest Road, Augusta Road, US Highway 80 east of the Norfolk Southern Rail Yard and Main Street need to boil water before drinking it or using it for cooking.
They say an equipment malfunction at the Garden City water system caused the outage.
Why the equipment malfunctioned is still under investigation.
“I go to wash my hands and there is no water coming out, so I’m like okay, that’s weird.
I check the bathtub nothing.
I check the kitchen, nothing,” said Garden City resident, Lakesha Leach.
Leach then checked her next door app and saw that she wasn’t alone.
“It threw us off track, because we had already started using the water, which I’m sure a lot of people had.
It sickens me, because I don’t know what’s going on, what’s in that water, or in my system at this time because of that," she said.
