Gibraltar boil water alert may be lifted Wednesday
A boil water advisory in Gibraltar could be lifted Wednesday night, city officials said.
"The city appreciates your patience during this time period," they said in a statement Tuesday.
"We understand this presents a severe inconvenience to the residents but the safety of our drinking water and residents are our highest priority."
The city issued the advisory Monday because of a water main break on West Jefferson.
Officials said the main was repaired Monday night and water pressure has been restored to full capacity.
The city is waiting for results of testing on water samples and officials said if they are clear, the advisory could be lifted as soon as 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Residents will be notified once the test results are known.
Any resident with questions about the water should call the city’s Department of Public Works (734) 676-3900. cramirez@detroitnews.com
