Kalamazoo lifts boil water advisory for East Cork Street area

KALAMAZOO, MI — Officials lifted a boil water advisory issued for a portion of Kalamazoo residents.
The advisory was issued Jan. 11 after a water main broke on East Cork Street, near an intersection with Harvard Street.
The break resulted in a temporary loss of water pressure.
The affected area includes: East Cork Street – from Portage Street (western boundary) to Cameron Street (eastern boundary), both sides of street.
Harvard Street – Northeast corner of Harvard Street and East Cork Street.
The advisory was precautionary.
There have not been any confirmed tests showing bacteria present in the water main at the locations of the breaks.
Citizens in the affected area can now consume water normally.
Bacteriological sampling within the affected area verified that the water is safe to drink.
