Mount Gilead water leak repaired; boil advisory issued

MOUNT GILEAD — The village had a major water leak Monday and parts of it are under a boil advisory as of early Tuesday, according to Mayor Mike Porter.
“Water pressure is weak.
We are aware of it and are working doing our best to get it fixed,” Porter said shortly before 8 p.m. Monday.
“The issue was discovered this afternoon,” Porter said.
It was repaired around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday and a boil alert issued “for the high-pressure district” side of the village.
This area consists of everything east and north of Iberia Street, but not Iberia Street; north of West North Street to Main Street including East Marion and East streets.
Downtown Mount Gilead is not affected, as it is on the “low-district side.” There are still some isolated areas without water as of this afternoon.
Everyone who received a notice in October is affected by this boil advisory, the village said.
Residents can call the water treatment plant’s automated system for information at 419-946-1871.
