Officials: No danger from E. coli in Ridgewood water

RIDGEWOOD – Residents of Ridgewood face no danger from the E. coli that was detected in a groundwater sample on April 5, town officials announced Thursday. Ridgewood Water customers were notified that the E. coli had been found in a low-pressure zone that includes parts of Ridgewood, Midland Park and Wyckoff and all of Glen Rock and were told to boil their water for a full minute before consuming. In a news conference Thursday morning, the head of Ridgewood Water, Richard Calbi, along with Ridgewood Mayor Susan Knudsen, assured residents that there was not an E. coli outbreak in the village and that no one was in any danger. Officials said that the groundwater had been treated by the time it reached customers’ faucets, but that the boil water advisory was in still in effect.
