Part of Oriskany under boil water advisory

Part of the village of Oriskany is under a boil water advisory.
Mohawk Valley Water Authority crews repaired a water main break at Utica Street and Ridge Road, but the authority issued the boil water advisory as a result of the break.
It covers residents in the area of: • Utica Street (between Hillside Drive and Ridge Road) • Ridge Road • Hillside Drive • Sunray Terrace • Husted Drive • Ceral Lane • Spillway Drive After the restoration of service, the advisory will remain in effect for at least 48 hours or until tests show that the water is free of contamination.
Water should be boiled for at least two minutes before drinking or cooking.
The authority also offered this advice to residents: Don’t use water that appears cloudy or discolored, especially hot water to avoid drawing more water into the hot water tank.
The tank will have to be flushed once clear water is available.
Don’t wash clothes in discolored water.
