Portion of Chadwicks under boil water advisory

Portion of Chadwicks under boil water advisory.
A portion of Chadwicks has been placed under a boil water advisory by the Mohawk Valley Water Authority.
A contractor damaged a water main on Elm Street, according to the authority.
The advisory affects residents on Elm Street from number 9371 to number 9555; Brooks Lane; Church Street; Pear Street; Hamilton Street; Hamilton Place; and School Street.
The advisory will remain in effect for about 48 hours until laboratory testing confirms that it can be safely lifted.
Residents are advised to boil water for at least two minutes before drinking it or cooking with it until then.
The authority is also advising residents not to use water that appears cloudy or discolored, especially hot water since drawing this water into their hot water tanks could require them to flush their tanks once the water clears.
Washing clothes in discolored water could stain laundry, according to the authority.
