Rockaway Township residents were urged to boil water before drinking
ROCKAWAY TWP.
"The utility has experienced an issue with one of its main product wells that has caused a grayish sediment color in the water.
"As a precaution we are implementing a boil water order.
The utility is working on corrective actions and will advise if there is any change in the water system and when the boil water order is lifted."
"Customers should start to see the water quality and cloudiness clearing up and we are closely monitoring all well levels, tanks levels and water quality and ask that residents conserve water where possible."
"We are working on obtaining the equipment and parts for permanent repairs.
We will advise all customers as soon as we can lift the boil water order," according to the township.
• People can shower and bath, do not swallow water while showering or bathing • When washing dishes in dishwasher’s be sure to use heat drying option • Use bottled water or water that has cooled after boiling for drinking water, • Use bottled water or water that has been boiled (and cooled) for brushing teeth and food preparation.
We continue to monitor the system and the effected well.
We have also arranged to have emergency crews start work on the well to make repairs," the advisory states.
