THOMASTON, Ga. — Some residents of the city of Thomaston have been placed under a boil water advisory following a water main leak.

According to a release from Victor Cozart, project manager for the City of Thomaston Water Department, water pressure in parts of the system have dropped to a dangerously low level because of the leak, causing a potential health hazard.

The areas that are affected by this problem are East and West Silverton, Mill Race Road, 2nd Avenue, 3rd Avenue to North and South Main and Peerless Road.

Citizens who have that have experienced water outages or low water pressure are advised to boil their water before using it for drinking, cooking or preparing baby food. The water should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil.

This advisory will be in place until further notice from drinking water utilities.
