DETROIT — Water and Sewage Department customers between West Jefferson to the south, Vernor Highway to the north, Miller Road to the west, and Livernois to the east in southwest Detroit have been issued a boil advisory until further notice.

This comes after some reported losing water pressure following a water main break Wednesday morning, July 20, according to the city’s website. Customers in the area shown in the map above are advised to bring water to a boil for at least a minute and it allow it to cool before using it to drink, clean, shower, brush teeth, preparing food and giving to pets.

“The advisory is in effect until DWSD and the Great Lakes Water Authority have determined boiling water is no longer necessary,” the post on the city’s website reads. “Test sampling is currently being conducted and should be completed by Saturday morning, July 23.”
