Union City under boil advisory after large water main break

RANDOLPH COUNTY, Ind.
— A Monday evening Facebook post from Randolph County emergency management said that the city of Union City, Ind.
will be under a water boil advisory for at least the next 48 hours.
Following a large water main break which caused an initial shutdown of the city’s water, Union City workers and private contractors were able to drain the water and do a "live" repair of the broken main.
Because of the break, Union City will be under a water boil advisory for at least the next 48 hours.
The emergency management team have compiled a list of frequently asked questions to help you during a boil water advisory, which can be accessed on their Facebook page.
The incident began around 4 p.m. after an initial message from the Randolph County Emergency Management Facebook page said a water main break was expected to drain the city’s water towers.
In a later update from the Emergency Management team via their Facebook page, they wrote: "The City of Union City has shut off water for the entire City of Union City.
Any water that you’re able to get out of your lines in Union City needs to be boiled until further notice."
The cause of the break and the extent of the damage to any surrounding areas are unknown at this time.
