UPDATE: Water expected to be turned back on at Hagerman rest area

HAGERMAN — Water at a rest area near Hagerman could be turned back on Tuesday after testing showed it was now E. coli free.
Last week the Idaho Transportation Department disabled water fountains at the rest area south of Hagerman on U.S. 30 after routine testing indicated the water supply had become contaminated.
Shawn Webb, district facilities manager with the Idaho Department of Transportation, said further tests indicated the E. coli was gone, but the Department of Environmental Quality requires another set of tests for the boil advisory to be lifted.
IDT should receive the results Tuesday morning.
Webb said it is unclear what caused the initial testing to show the water supply had been contaminated.
