Water tower repairs cause Jeffersonville boil water advisory

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ga. — Jeffersonville is under a boil water advisory all weekend but it’s not because of the storm.

Mayor Charles Williams said they do repairs on the water towers annually. In order to do the repairs they have to drain the tanks to get inside, meaning there’s a possibility of low pressure.

Williams said they EPA suggests a boil water advisory to avoid any problems.

“It may be no low pressure, it may be okay, but we have to put the advisory out there and the boil water in place,” Williams said.

Because of the long Labor Day Weekend they decided to do the repairs so schools wouldn’t be affected. The advisory will be in effect from Saturday at midnight to Monday at 8 a.m.
