Weyburn expects to have one distribution pump repaired at water treatment facility Monday

The city of Weyburn anticipates they will have one of the two failed distribution pumps at the water treatment plant up and running by the end of Monday.
A precautionary boil water advisory is in effect for the time being, and has been since Saturday afternoon.
Weyburn’s Director of Engineering, Nader Keshta said the boil water advisory will remain in effect until both pumps have been repaired.
“It could be lifted once one has been restored, however we are in favour of fixing both pumps first,” Keshta said.
“The water levels have to stay lowered anyway just to get the pump out of the well, it helps us working with both pumps off, making us able to fix them more quickly than if we reascended the boil water advisory.
The city of Weyburn is currently in the process of building a new water treatment facility, Keshta said they hope to have it commissioned by spring 2019.
The current facilities best days are well behind it.
“The age of the infrastructure is the issue,” Keshta said.
” The pumps at the water treatment plant are 30-years-old and near the end of its life cycle.
