Corps looking at new ways to handle drought conditions at the lake
Corps looking at new ways to handle drought conditions at the lake.
The question we hear from you is why don’t they just release more water upstream from the dam into the lake?
But a new plan drafted by the Corps could change the way they handle lake levels.
The changes were immediately noticeable to Blanche Hood.
Spots once covered in water, now covered in dry sand and jagged rocks.
"The water level is horrible," described Hood, "I mean, it used to come all the way up to the wall."
Both kids and adults forced to swim outside the designated swim zone because there’s not much space to swim inside it.
"Water would be right up there," said Hood.
After years of studying the lake, the Corps looked at different drought plans.
So when they hit a severe drought, they can start letting less water flow out of the dam leaving more in the lake.
