Brandon Beane, Sean McDermott take ownership of Buffalo Bills’ playoff drought

Brandon Beane, Sean McDermott take ownership of Buffalo Bills’ playoff drought.
Orchard Park, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills’ streak of 17 seasons without a playoff appearance continues to hang over the franchise heading into the first year of the Sean McDermott-Brandon Beane era.
McDermott and Beane are taking a different approach.
You look at the Chicago Cubs, right?
I’m a part of that.
And so creating the right dynamic around the present team is important in terms of our focus, our mindset.
McDermott wants to own the drought and use it as motivation but also not have his players weighed down by the failures of the past.
For Beane and McDermott, who are both intense competitors, it’s tough for them to wrap their heads around what fans in Buffalo have been through.
I wasn’t here for it, but I sympathize with the fan base, with a lot of these employees.
Sean and I are focused going forward because there’s nothing we can do about the past, but we want nothing more to look out there and see the excitement in the city, in this building, for everything we’re doing."
