Hope for the Heartland helps ranchers recover from drought

Hope for the Heartland helps ranchers recover from drought.
The drought relief fund is called "Hope for the Heartland" and it’ll help North Dakota cattle ranchers recover expenses and retain hope after the devastating losses they’ve been through.
The drought has affected ranchers fields, feed and cattle, but with this drought relief fund, it’ll help them get back on their feet.
"For us to be able to reach out and ask for donations, and then be able to come up with an application process and to reach out to our fellow producers who are in need, it’s a pretty amazing thing," said Warren Zenker, association president.
The program is asking for the community to come together and raise funds for ranchers who are in need.
Weather it’s feed, or fencing, or transportation costs," said Julie Ellingson, executive vice president.
There’ll be a selection committee that’ll select a few ranchers most in need and award them the money raised in the first quarter of 2018.
When a natural disaster occurs, everyone feels the pain.
The Stockman’s Association will be accepting donations and applications until the end of December.
If you’d like to donate or fill out an application you can go to www.ndstockmen.org.
