Money runs dry, water distributions canceled at West Court Street Church of God

FLINT (WJRT) (9/19/2018) – The weekly water distribution at West Court Street Church of God has been called off for this weekend — and possibly forever.
The church has been relying on private donations to fund the giveaways after Gov.
Rick Snyder ended state-funded bottled water distribution to Flint residents.
However, the church’s funding to buy bottled water has run dry.
If more funding comes in, church officials say the water distributions will resume.
But as of Wednesday, the giveaway on Sept. 22 and all future giveaways are on hold.
The church already had to cancel its Sept. 1 water distribution due to an issue with the supplier.
More than 400 families a week often rely on the free water.
Senior Pastor Rob Butler said the church spent about $900 to $1,000 a month buying the water.
